Ohio's age of consent is 16. There is a close-in-age provision: sexual battery involving a 13-, 14-, or 15-year-old carries a lesser charge if the defendant is less than 18 years old. Ohio Revised Code Section 2907.04 covers unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, with penalty grades that vary by age gap.
Ohio has no statewide sex education mandate. When districts offer sex ed, they must present abstinence as the preferred choice for unmarried students. Contraception may be discussed in factual terms. There is no requirement for medical accuracy in the broader sense, no LGBTQ+ inclusion mandate, and no consent education standard.
Ohio's adult entertainment environment is moderate. Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati have active adult entertainment industries regulated through local licensing and zoning. The state has not pursued aggressive restriction campaigns, and adult businesses operate under a fairly standard regulatory framework. Ohio has been the site of periodic obscenity prosecutions at the local level, but no sustained state-level campaign to restrict adult entertainment.
