Who We Are
Live or Die Here is operated by Cowboynauts LLC ("we," "us," or "our") at liveordiehere.com. We provide a state comparison tool covering taxes, cost of living, laws, and lifestyle data for all 50 US states and territories.

Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account email address — collected when you create an account. We use magic link authentication; we never store a password.
- Saved preferences — your slider configurations, stored when you save your priorities.
- Email subscriptions — your email and selected states, if you subscribe to law change alerts.
- Feedback and contact forms — any information you voluntarily submit.
Information collected automatically:
- Log data — IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, timestamps.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see the Cookies section below.
- Usage data — how you interact with the tool (aggregated, not linked to individuals unless you are signed in).
AI search queries: When you use the AI search feature (Compass or the search bar AI fallback), your query text is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude API for processing. Queries are not stored long-term on Anthropic's servers under standard API usage. We log queries internally for 90 days for quality improvement. See the AI Features section below for important guidance on what not to enter.
AI Features — Do Not Enter Personal Information
Important: Do not enter personally identifiable information into AI features. The Compass assistant and AI search are designed to answer general questions about states, taxes, and relocation. They are not designed to process your personal financial data.
Do not enter into any AI feature on this site:
- Your full name, address, Social Security number, or government ID
- Your exact income, net worth, account balances, or specific financial details
- Health or medical information
- Information about other individuals
- Any information you would not want processed by a third-party AI service
Use general or hypothetical figures when asking questions (e.g., “for someone earning around $300k” rather than your exact income). The tool produces the same quality answers with hypothetical inputs.
How AI queries are processed: Text you enter is transmitted to Anthropic, Inc. under their API terms. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models and does not retain query data beyond the processing of your request under their standard enterprise API agreement. However, any information you choose to enter is transmitted to and processed by Anthropic's systems. Review Anthropic's Privacy Policy for their data practices.
We log your query text internally for 90 days for quality improvement and debugging. These logs are not shared with third parties and are deleted after 90 days.
You enter information into AI features at your own discretion. We are not responsible for any PII you voluntarily submit through AI query features. If you have submitted PII you wish to have deleted from our internal logs, email [email protected].
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use the following categories of cookies and tracking technologies:
Essential cookies (required for the site to function):

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling all cookies will break sign-in functionality. You can opt out of interest-based advertising at aboutads.info or networkadvertising.org.
We honor browser-level Do Not Track (DNT) signals where technically feasible, though we cannot guarantee all third-party services respect DNT.
