Kentucky's age of consent is 16. There is a close-in-age provision: sexual activity involving a minor aged 14 or 15 is classified as a lesser offense if the defendant is less than five years older. Kentucky Revised Statutes Section 510.060 covers third-degree rape.
Sex education is required in Kentucky schools. The instruction must stress abstinence until marriage. There is no requirement for medical accuracy in the broader sense, and no LGBTQ+ inclusion requirement. Contraception can be discussed in limited terms. The state's framework has been one of the more consistent abstinence-until-marriage mandates in the South. Parental opt-out rights are protected.
Kentucky's adult entertainment environment is restrictive. Lexington and Louisville have adult entertainment businesses regulated through local licensing, but the state's political culture leans against permissiveness. Kentucky has strong community standards obscenity enforcement, and local prosecutors have historically pursued cases against adult businesses. The overall posture reflects a socially conservative approach to adult content and entertainment.
Sex ed required but must stress abstinence-until-marriage. No medically accurate requirement.
