Nebraska's age of consent is 17. State law includes a close-in-age exemption: sexual activity with a minor aged 12 to 16 is not a felony if the defendant is less than five years older and the conduct is consensual, under Nebraska Revised Statutes Section 28-319.01.

Nebraska has no statewide sex education mandate. When districts offer sex ed, they typically use an abstinence-only or abstinence-plus approach depending on local district policy. There is no requirement for medical accuracy, no LGBTQ+ inclusion mandate, and no consent education standard. Omaha's larger urban districts tend to offer more developed programming than rural districts.

Nebraska's adult entertainment environment is moderate. Omaha has adult entertainment businesses regulated through local licensing and zoning. The state has not pursued aggressive restriction campaigns. Nebraska's political environment has grown more conservative, but this has not produced significant restrictions on adult entertainment at the state level.

No mandate. Abstinence-only when offered.
