Oklahoma has one of the largest tribal gaming markets in the United States. More than 30 tribes operate over 130 gaming facilities across the state, ranging from small operations to WinStar World Casino and Resort on the Texas border, which claims to be among the largest casinos in the world by gaming floor space. The state's tribal gaming economy is enormous and politically powerful.
Sports betting is not legal in Oklahoma. Legislation has been introduced repeatedly, and the hurdle is the tribal gaming compacts, which give tribes exclusive rights to most forms of gambling. Tribes have been divided on sports betting — some support it, others oppose expansion that might dilute their market advantage. The state lottery operates draw games and scratch tickets. Horse racing at Remington Park in Oklahoma City and Fair Meadows in Tulsa continues.
For residents near Oklahoma City or Tulsa, tribal casino access is extremely good — there are multiple large facilities within short drives. WinStar, near the Texas border, draws heavily from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is a regional destination. For sports betting, there is no legal option in Oklahoma. Residents who want to bet on sports must cross into Kansas, Colorado, or Tennessee to do so legally.
